Microsoft has taken another tiny step towards a web-based version of Word that duplicates what you get on the desktop.
On Thursday, the company announced that you can now co-author documents in the Office Web Apps version of Word if you’re working with a document stored on its Skydrive cloud storage system.
According to Microsoft, when you’re co-authoring, you will get a real-time view of who is making changes and where changes are occurring. Once you start typing, the corresponding section of the document is locked and others are notified.
You could already co-author docs with Word 2010 and Word for Mac 2011.
